The University and the Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) work together to develop an annual Student Partnership Agreement (SPA) to further enhance the experience of our students. Our SPAs detail agreed priorities for each academic year and include key performance indicators to help with evaluation of effectiveness.

Memorandum of understanding between DUSA and the University

DUSA and the University currently have in place a Code of Practice approved by the University Court as required in terms of Section 22 of the Education Act 1994 and an agreement governing the use of certain buildings. Together DUSA and the University have also developed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to provide guidance for their ongoing relationship. The MOU describes mutual and individual commitments and is reviewed periodically. A copy of the MOU (revised Jan 2014) is available to staff and students of the University through the link below.

National Student Survey (NSS)

The National Student Survey (NSS) is targeted at final year undergraduates in the UK. It takes place between January and April each year, and provides students with an opportunity to make their opinions on their higher education student experience count at an institutional and at a national level. The results are analysed and used to compile a year on year comparisons of data which:

  • helps prospective students make informed choices of where and what to study
  • enables the participating institutions to identify and improve in areas where students are not satisfied with their experience as well as identify areas where good practice should be shared

The NSS results are discussed annually at a forum that includes the Vice-Principal (Learning and Teaching), the School Associate Deans (Learning and Teaching, and Quality and Academic Standards), student representatives and other relevant academic and administrative staff.

Analyses of the NSS results are available in the Learning and Teaching Information Section of My Dundee.

The survey results are also available nationally from the Discover Uni website which provides a range of information on UK universities for prospective students and parents.

The University also participates in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) and the International Student Barometer (ISB), the results of which are discussed at School committees, the Learning and Teaching Committee, the Research Degrees Subcommittee and other fora. Survey results are available in the Learning and Teaching Information Section of My Dundee.
