Visiting the University of Dundee Museums
Visitor information for our range of collections and buildings
We have a variety of temporary exhibitions and permanent displays in different buildings around the University.
Tower Building
You can see regular exhibitions from the collections in the Tower Foyer Gallery on the ground floor and the Lamb Gallery on the first floor.
There is also a permanent display from our Comics Art Collection in the Baxter Conference Suite foyer on the first floor.

Monday to Friday - 09:30-19:00
Saturday 11.00-16.00 (shorter hours may apply during University vacations)

Carnelley Building
This houses the D'Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum,

- Fridays afternoons during the summer

Dalhousie Building
Numerous artworks from the collections are on display in the corridors and stairwells of this building, notably some significant artists' prints, displayed in Block 2.

Harris Building
In the foyer you can see a permanent display of historic Physics instruments and equipment.

University House
This house (built as Elmslea in 1864 and home to two significant art collectors, William Ritchie and John Robertson) has traditionally been used as the Principal's Residence, and hosts some of our most impressive paintings, including works by Raeburn, McTaggart, Cadell and John Duncan.

Chaplaincy
Various artworks are displayed in this building, as well as a stunning carved stone cross by Hew Lorimer.

School of Medicine
Ninewells Hospital is the venue for the Tayside Medical History Museum, featuring both permanent and changing displays of local medical history. There are also various artworks on display around the School.

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design
The Art College Library in the Matthew Building houses abcD (artists’ book collection Dundee), a superb collection of book art by UK and international artists.
An appointment is required to visit.
Hawkhill House
This 18th-century building houses our main stores and offices. We welcome researchers to come and visit our collections.
