Ubiquity Press / Open Journals Software
Partnering with Ubiquity Press allows LLC Research Services to provide a service to academic colleagues wishing to establish a new journal. This paid-for service comes with different levels of support, depending on the requirements of the journal’s editorial board.
WordPress
Are you a student group or a member of staff supporting students wishing to establish an open access, student-led journal? If so, we can provide you with advice on how to go about setting up the journal, including guidance on archiving, preservation and licensing of articles.

Scottish Universities Press (SUP)
The Scottish Universities Press is a not-for-profit open access publishing press owned and managed by a collaboration of universities, of which the University of Dundee is one. It aims to provide a clear and cost-effective route for researchers to make their work freely available to a global audience, meeting the requirements of funders and realising the government ambition to extend the impact of research across society.
For now SUP is focussing on publishing monographs, with a view to extending coverage to other types of content. If you are interested in finding out more about publishing with us, contact the Publishing Officer, Dominique Walker at DWalker002@dundee.ac.uk
ISSUU
ISSUU can be used to present a visually appealing version of different content and publication types, from reports and illustrative works through to learning materials and magazines. The Library and Learning Centre recently established a University of Dundee ISSUU branded site. If you are interested in uploading new content to the University of Dundee ISSUU site, or if you have existing content that you’d like to transfer over to the branded site, please get in contact by emailing Discovery@dundee.ac.uk
Discovery
Our institutional repository, The Discovery Research Portal, is not just for recording previously published research. You can also use it to publish content such as discussion papers, reports, toolkits, data, and other outputs of your research. In doing so your research will have a permanent landing page and be assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) which will allow download tracking and use statistics. DOI minting
A digital object identifier (DOI) is a string of characters which uniquely identifies an object. DOIs are often used for journal papers but can also be used for other publications and datasets. We can provide you with a DOI upon request but please allow 5 working days for us to process your request.
International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs)
If you intending to make your publication(s) available for sale, you may wish to apply an ISBN, otherwise we strongly advocate in favour of applying a DOI instead. To find out more contact Discovery@dundee.ac.uk
International Standard Serial Numbers (ISSNs)
The British Library host the UK ISSN Service. As part of the journal set up process, we will request an ISSN from the British Library on your behalf. Please allow 30 days for your request to be processed.

Open Access funding and licensing
Our team are the central point of contact for all information about making your research openly available. If you are considering publishing your work with us, we will advise on the most appropriate routes to dissemination, including open access and licensing. We can also provide help concerning monograph publications with regard to funder and publisher policies, and routes to both immediate open access (Gold or Diamond routes) and delayed open access (Green route).
