Exhibition celebrates Dundee polymath

Artworks and artefacts from the University of Dundee’s D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum will this weekend go on display in Edinburgh at a new exhibition celebrating the polymath who gives his name to the museum. The City Art Centre is staging ‘A Sketch of the Universe: Art, Science and the Influence of D’Arcy Thompson’, a major new exhibition of modern and contemporary art inspired by Thompson, Dundee’s first Professor of Biology.  The exhibition features more than 90 artworks and other objects on loan from the museum’s collection and opens on Saturday, 19th Nov...

Damehood no match for daughter’s graduation

Professor Sue Black may have received her Damehood from HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace last week but it will be a ceremony at Dundee’s Caird Hall this Friday that really fills her with pride. Jonathan (35) moved from Wisconsin to carry out his Masters in American History at the University in 2009. Dental students scrum for Mouth Cancer Action Month

Dental students from the University of Dundee have teamed up with Scottish rugby legend Scott Hastings and oral health experts in a bid to raise awareness of mouth cancer. Hastings, patron of the charity Let’s Talk About Mouth Cancer will be visiting Dundee on Wednesday, 16th November to launch this year’s Mouth Cancer Action Month campaign in Dundee. ‘Research in Film’ award for Kieran

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design PhD student Kieran Baxter has won an award for his stunning visual reinterpretation of two prehistoric Angus hill forts. ‘The Caterthuns’ won Kieran the 2016 Arts and Humanities Research Council 'Research in Film Awards' Doctoral Award. The film saw Kieran recreate the White and Brown Caterhun hill forts near Edzell more than 2,000 years after they were populated.
