Dundee first UK university to graduate `Science Without Borders’ medical students

The University of Dundee has become the first university in the UK to produce medical graduates through the Science Without Borders scheme. The graduation ceremony at Dundee this afternoon, Friday June 26th, saw four Brazilian students graduating from the Medical School. Gabriel Maia Costa, Rogerio Magno Do Nascimento Filho, Nicole Georges Lambrakos and Carlos Augusto Nunes Martini have all completed the Intercalated courses for the Honours Degree of Bachelor of Medical Science. First John Gibson Awards to be presented

The first ever winners of the John Gibson Award for Services to Computing at the University of Dundee will receive their prize later today. The University’s School of Computing has presented awards to students to coincide with graduation for a number of years but they have been renamed in honour of John Gibson, a founder member of its User Centre who died last year. Steph Lee and Graeme Brown will receive their awards at 4pm on Friday, 26th June at the User Centre, Queen Mother Building, having graduated earlier in the day. Parents of tragic Alex cross Atlantic to pay Graduation tribute

The family of a University of Dundee student who tragically died last year at the age of 24 have travelled from their home in the United States to mark his Graduation tomorrow. Alex Nordquist died of a lung infection last November during the final year of his International Relations course. He will be awarded a posthumous degree during the University’s annual Graduation ceremony at the Caird Hall on Friday, 26th June with his mother Barbara, father Bob and brother Thomas in attendance having made the journey from Connecticut to Tayside. Ambitious first showcase of Scotland’s contemporary artists in China

The first major showcase of Scotland’s internationally renowned contemporary art scene in China, a collaboration between the University of Dundee’s Cooper Gallery and Shanghai Himalayas Museum, opens this weekend. CURRENT comprises eight exhibitions featuring more than 50 artists over an 18 month period and is co-curated by Sophia Hao, of Cooper Gallery, and Wang Nanming, an independent curator and critic in Shanghai. Father to watch daughter graduate from stage

Proud fathers are not exactly in short supply at the University of Dundee’s Graduation ceremonies but only one will be on the stage with his daughter when she receives her degree tomorrow.
