Primrose Harrington-Garnett and Dr Nicholas Garnett will join Dr Charlotte Bagnall to discuss their primary-secondary school transitions experiences.

Primrose is currently in Year 6 (P7 in Scotland) and will share her thoughts and feelings about her transition to secondary school, as well as her experiences preparing for secondary school and the support she is receiving from her primary school, secondary school, friends and family.

Nick, as well as a father, is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. His main research interests broadly focus on the psychology of education, intervention science, self-limiting behaviours in education, and the influence of policy on pupil outcomes. As well as sharing his experiences negotiating primary-secondary school transitions as a father supporting his daughter, he will also reflect on intervention research he has conducted within the field.

Dr Charlotte Bagnall is a lecturer at the University of Manchester in Manchester’s Institute of Education. Her research is focused on supporting children’s emotional wellbeing within schools, particularly over primary-secondary school transitions. As part of her programme of research she is currently the Principal Investigator of the Primary-Secondary School Transitions Emotional Wellbeing Scale design and validation project(see the P-S Wells project website).
