Accommodation Guarantee Offer (AGO)

The University of Dundee (the University) will provide an offer of accommodation to every first year student (undergraduate or postgraduate) studying on a full time programme of study at the University subject to certain terms and conditions that you need to meet.

AGO Terms and Conditions

In these terms and conditions:

  • “accommodation” means accommodation provided by the University from time to time as set
  • out in General clause 2 below
  • “AGO” the accommodation guarantee offer to be provided by the University;
  • "Programme” means a programme of study at the University
  • “University” means the University of Dundee
  • “you” or “your” means the applicant/student

For an AGO to be issued you in September 2024:

  1. You must be accepted on a programme at the University which the University has advertised as a full-time study programme.
  2. If you are due to be studying an Undergraduate or Postgraduate programme, you must have applied for your accommodation by 26 July 2024 and this must be verified by the University.
  3. If you are to come through Clearing, a further deadline for applying for you accommodation has been set, and under these circumstances you must have applied by 23 August 2024
  4. All applications for accommodation must be made online.
  5. September 2024 needs to be your first of study at the University. If you are in the first year of your programme but this is not your first year at the University you will not be eligible for the AGO.

General

  1. You accept that all correspondence in respect of the AGO will normally be through email through the email address that you have supplied in your application.
  2. The AGO applies only in respect of accommodation within the University’s existing portfolio of accommodation which is advertised for occupancy in September 2024. The AGO does not extend to any other third-party accommodation such as private, council, hotel, hostel or any other third-party.
  3. All University accommodation subject to the AGO is subject to availability.
  4. The AGO covers you as an individual applicant only. The University cannot accommodate dependents under this AGO.
    1. A ‘dependent’ is a spouse, civil partner, child or parent of the student, or a person living in a single household with the student (excluding tenants, lodgers, boarders and employees).
    2.  A ‘single household’ is formed by a family; single person; and employer and certain domestic employees (who provide a service and do not pay rent / other consideration); a carer and the person receiving the care; and a foster parent /foster child.
    3. ‘family’ comprises a couple (whether married, and including same sex couples), a parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child, grandchild or stepchild, cousin, niece or nephew or aunt or uncle. Half-relationship is treated as a relationship of full blood.
  5. The AGO is a one-off offer and whilst every effort will be made to provide you with accommodation that is appropriate, all University accommodation subject to the AGO is subject to availability and therefore no guarantee is given that the accommodation will be your preferred choice. No alternative offer of accommodation is guaranteed if the AGO is refused.
  6. The AGO will normally be open for acceptance within 7 days of issue and the University will be under no obligation to provide accommodation if you do not provide your acceptance within the 7 days of the date of the AGO. Acceptance of the AGO will include, but is not limited to, the payment by you of any advanced rental applicable from time to time.
  7. If you have any special needs related to disability, please notify the University’s Disability Services so that we can consider any reasonable adjustments with you at the date of application. If you have supporting evidence, please provide this to the University as soon as possible.
  8. The AGO only applies to relevant students at the University. Accordingly, if your application is withdrawn or offer terminated, so will the AGO.
  9. The University may seek further supporting evidence from you prior to issuing an AGO or offer of accommodation and you should provide such evidence in a timely manner. Otherwise, the AGO could be withdrawn.
  10. The University reserves its rights to not offer or withdraw any offer of accommodation including the AGO subject always to applicable law and regulations.
  11. By accepting an AGO, you acknowledge that to gain access to the accommodation you will require to be bound by the University’s standard Occupancy Agreement (see Accommodation: important Information) and the terms and conditions in relation thereto.
  12. If you do not meet any of these terms and conditions, the AGO will not apply.
  13. All accommodation is subject to availability and whilst every effort will be made by the University to provide accommodation subject to the AGO, the University shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance of its obligations in respect of the AGO if such delay or failure results from events, circumstances or causes beyond its reasonable control.
